Erik Merten

VP of Development

For over 20 years Erik has formed land, buildings and houses for all the world to see. He doesn’t swing a hammer, he doesn’t cut wood, he does the dirty work you can’t see. Erik oversees the entire land use entitlement process. His expertise begins during the site selection stages, continuing through the conceptual site plan design and site due-diligence phases, ending with plans approved for construction. He utilizes his years of hands on experience, knowledge and education in the Real Estate and Land Development field to provide design solutions with an outside the box mentality.

A St. Xavier Tiger alumni, Erik realized his passion for Planning and Land Development while taking business, design and drafting courses throughout high school. Erik continued his education by achieving an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Design Drafting from Louisville Technical Institute in Louisville, KY. He then spent 14 years fine tuning his skills and technical aspects of land use planning and project management with a Louisville based multi-disciplinary engineering firm. For the next 6 years Erik managed the entitlement process for numerous multimillion-dollar medical and commercial developments throughout the United States for a Southern Indiana Land Development and Construction Management firm.

Erik’s vast knowledge in land use and zoning principles has steered him to entitle several project types across the country including: Commercial/ Retail Developments, Hospitals and Medical Use Facilities, Institutional, Public and Private Government Developments, Hospitality, Mixed-Use Developments, Multifamily and Large Scale Residential Subdivisions.

One of Erik’s unique skills is the ability in allowing clients to envision their product with interactive 3D elevations and site renderings. Erik can quickly illustrate the client’s vision, by turning ideas into graphic sketches allowing for accurate preliminary budgeting and project yield. He also tailors these graphics and drawings for presentations to local municipalities and project marketing packages.

Erik is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Indiana.
